Oh … my … God!!!

Flipping through the channels, I saw Oprah talking to a guy called Bill (O’R.) who is talking crazy stuff. Apparently “freedom of speech” is bull, US shouldn’t be Holland or Denmark (people should’t do whatever they want), you can obtain information only from Fox, there is only white or black … you should pick a category - are you a traditionalist (the right choice) or a secular progressive?
I can’t believe people think like this in the 21st century in the “greatest country the civilization has created”.  The sad part is that this guy has the most watched show on cable TV  and apparently people listen to him. At least I begin to understand how B. was able to win for a second time.

I’m just speechless …

Words

I love new words such as “to chillax”, “frienemy” etc. I just stumbled onto a new one - “to wikify” an article meaning “to format using Wiki markup” - cool! Unfortunately, it is useful primarily on Wikipedia :)

Opinion and the city

They say the third time is a charm but I still can’t find Los Angeles charming. It has been our 3rd trip to the city and I still don’t like it. The traffic is terrible, you can’t see the sky because the smog is hiding it, downtown is a scary place to be by yourself  when the twilight settles in … There are just pieces of contemporary architecture scattered around that are worth seeing. We really liked The Getty Museum and its gardens and view, as well as The Walt Disney Concert Hall. I admit that they’ve done some amazing job around Chinese Theater and now it looks flashy and popular with all the stores, bars and restaurants around there. Still all the people in line in front of every place is too much drama … or I’m just getting old and lazy to stand in line :-) I guess Los Angeles is one of those cities that you either love or hate … obviously I lean toward the latter.
Anyhoo, we loved Santa Monica, the promenade and the endless beaches. I wouldn’t mind living in one of those houses right on the beach … maybe there’s a reason why both Yahoo and Google chose Santa Monica for their offices in Southern California.

I can only add: Northern California ruleZ! :-p
